Whether patients and physicians embrace or resist it, the medical and health insurance worlds are headed online — into vast networks handling information ranging from medical histories to claims adjudication to diagnostic tools. Insurance companies, health providers and hospitals also are creating patient websites where consumers can check on their own health records and insurance plan coverage details.
“We are working on a patient portal,” said Judy Van Norman, senior clinical director of information for Banner Health in Phoenix.
